To deliver efficient and effective asset accounting and systems management services. Provide support services to the Department as well as other Council's business units as required.
Client Details
The client is a local council based in Warragu that offer flexible working for part of the week.
Description
Review the annual asset valuation methodology for each class of council's assets, in partnership with the Infrastructure team.
Maintain the finance asset register and liaise with the Community Infrastructure
Directorate, responsible for updating the infrastructure asset register, ensuring both registers align with the general ledger.
Process depreciation monthly and report on variances to budget.
Liaise with the infrastructure team monthly for asset changes and adjust the finance asset register accordingly.
Attend capital works and asset related meetings as required.
Complete accounting entries to support the movement in asset valuation data from Finance One to Conquest.
Maintenance of Council's financial asset registers in accordance with Accounting
Standards, Local Government Regulations and Council's policies and guidelines.
Assist in the preparation of appropriate asset related schedules, reconciliations and work papers required for the annual financial statements.
Maintain the chart of accounts, general ledger, associated reports and reporting structures under the direction of the Management Accountant and the Chief Financial Officer.
Oversee Technology One administration and systems support, in conjunction with Technology One consultancy and act as the main point of contact for Council.
Support the provision of user advice and training.
Maintain the budget systems (Enterprise Budgeting) and prepare use reports as requested.
Provide assistance in the annual budget process.
Liaise with external auditors on a regular basis.
Contribute to the review and development of finance policies and procedures
Profile
CPA/CA qualified or equivalent.
Demonstrated understanding of accounting theory and the application of accounting standards, with ability to undertake all requirements of the role.
Advanced level skills in Microsoft Excel and high levels of proficiency in database products.
Demonstrated enthusiasm and drive together with personal flexibility and a focus on improvement.
Demonstrated ability and commitment to create strong working relationships within the organisation.
