Tax/Business Services Manager

A growth opportunity has emerged for a CA/CPA qualified individual seeking a leadership role with a growing Cairns Region based firm. 

This role will be focused on working with our team and clients in our Mareeba and Atherton offices. 

For the right candidate, the role will work from our office located in Cairns, and will require occasional travel to our Mareeba and Atherton locations to meet with clients and the team in person.

All branches have direct communications and computer links and you will be exposed to regular staff training programs which will equip you to convey to clients the latest Superannuation, Taxation and Commercial strategies.

Your new role has an emphasis on superannuation, tax structuring, and oversight of a range of individual and small business tax affairs, this high profile role will have the successful candidate working closely on a core set of clients, with interaction with other entities in the firm's broader group locally and interstate. 

The role will suit an individual seeking to leverage their skills and the firm's existing scale and technical skill in an outward facing role, whilst taking responsibility for working closely with the team, and clients to deliver their core service offering. The role will suit someone who can juggle both the operational responsibilities of managing a team, but is keen to exercise latitude to make this opportunity ‘their own’. The firm is capable of scaling substantially, with deep financial backing and expertise in the area. 

• Assisting in the management, planning, execution and completion assignments of a diverse portfolio of clients
• Assisting with and providing taxation planning, business advice and all compliance requirements for various entities
• Completing analysis of advisory and compliance engagements including tax returns, activity statements and Fringe Benefits Tax Returns 
• Preparation of financial statements, management and annual accounts
• Identifying potential issues or opportunities within the client base
• Building and developing relationships with existing and new clients

What you’ll need to succeed

The successful candidate will have relevant technical experience, outstanding communication skills, be ambitious in nature with developed practice oversight skills. You might already be running a small team, or your own practice, and looking to scale up. The team you'll be working with are expert, with strong client relationships, and you'll be supported within a broader group with like-minded professionals who are also keen to grow their business in adjunct practice lines. 

• Preferably CA/CPA qualified
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in a professional accounting firm
• Ability to think laterally and problem-solve complex issues
• Proven business, accounting, tax and superannuation knowledge
• Experience with MYOB Accountants Enterprise practice software desirable
• Must have solid knowledge in Xero (including payroll) 
• High level skills with Word and Excel and other Microsoft Office products
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail, someone who takes pride in their work
• Can work well in a team environment
• Strong work ethics
• Knowledge in technicalities of SMSF is desirable 
•  A prior knowledge of auditing is desirable
