SLR has a great opportunity for an ambitious individual to join our high performing and friendly Toxicology & Risk Assessment team. This is a part-time or full-time position, working with a great team of Consultants across the APAC region. As one of the newest disciplines to SLR we are a small and agile team with consultants in Melbourne and Perth and are flexible on location for the right candidate to join the business.

The Toxicology & Risk Assessment team provides high quality expert advice on the health risks of chemical exposures to both humans and the environment.  

 

Job tasks and responsibilities

You will work closely with the rest of the Toxicology & Risk Assessment team, be responsible for carrying out a range of small to medium sized projects and have a passion for Toxicology while also being able to do the following:

  • You will carry out highly technical tasks which will require attention to detail as well as accuracy in data analysis and data management.
  • With the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, work in the following areas is expected; provide advice on the health risks of chemical exposures; undertake human health and ecological risk assessments for chemicals in soil, water, air, food, medicines and consumer products.  
  • Excellent report writing skills, literature searching and critical evaluation and review of toxicological literature.
  • As well as delivering projects your role would include the opportunity to advance your business development skills to bring your own influence to the breadth and range of projects the team works on – with support from team members as needed.

 

Skills and experience

Our ideal candidate will have a willingness to challenge their capabilities and be an innovative thinker as well as possess:

  • A relevant bachelor degree (ideally in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Applied Science, Public Health) and/or
  • A postgraduate qualification (e.g. Masters or PhD) in an area of relevance to the role.
  • We are open to the level of person we are seeking and so someone with 3- 6 years’ experience or more senior at 10+ years’ will be considered for this position.
  • Ideally Toxicology experience within either a consulting or government organisation.
  • Capability and experience with exposure modelling and/or pharmacokinetic modelling would be highly advantageous to your application.
  • Any background in Chemical and/or Microbiological Risk Assessment with a focus in Toxicology would be ideal.
  • A demonstration of diversity of skills and proven record of high-level Project Delivery will be favourable to your application.
